Alright! Good for you! Yoga does hurt. T and I have been doing Yoga for about a year (on & off) now, but we just last week decided to get off our asses and start being serious about getting fit. We've managed to eat well, eating organics and lots of green leafy stuff, but now we both really want to get cut. we are using free weights and yoga. It's spring! Time for everyone to wanna lose the winter insulation. Now if we can just keep it up.

That BodyBlank thing sounds kind of funny because it's sooo ridiculously commercialized, and a bit scary becasue they're all serious about the branding and don't realize how ridiculous it all is.

I wouldn't attend those classes either.

Good on ya for trying. (That's some Aussie slang for you.) I've been doing a class at the gym called BodyBalance, which is basically a mixture of Tai Chi, Yoga, and Pilates in one. I used to think that I'd never try it because the Les Mills program here has commercialized all aeorobics, such as step, hi/low, yoga, etc., where they are all pre-made, the instructors just do the same routine every day until there is a "new release," which is REALLY exciting, supposedly. (They all wear clothing with BodyBalance, BodyStep, BodyPump, BodyCombat or BodyAttack on it, seriously, and it's the songs you hear on the radio, which detracts from yoga a lot if you ask me.) But, I finally gave in because a ten-week course of yoga is so expensive, where my $40 a month gym pass includes it all. Sorry, I should really blog about this, but I think doing it at home is a really good idea...it makes it personal, in case of any noises, etc.

All that twisting is supposed to help clear your body of toxins. I say it is often released in the form of very loud farts.

We have a yoga tape where the woman says sits bones or something like that. She also encourages you to remember where your feet are. Duh. I haven't forgotten the answer to that since I was 10 months old!

I'll tell you a secret--and it reminds me of a story that Cindy has, and should tell again--yoga gives me gas.

I didn't realize how sore I was until this morning when I bent down to put Hooper's leash on him.

I'm very proud of Chris for sticking through the whole routine (even though I was bored and kept complaining about how slow the teacher was). You know you're good if you can hold prayer twist in high lunge while giggling.

Yeah, the Pete and I do Yoga together sometimes, and one or both of us always bursts into giggles over how badly we do the poses (or alternatively, we get sooo relaxed that one of us farts...but I'm not saying which one of us...and you didn't hear that from me, anyway). I still can't do half-moon pose very well. 8v/

But it IS relaxing, isn't it? Even though it *looks* easy, it's actually quite hard, and I always feel like I've accomplished something afterwards. Good for you for giving it a try!
