We live in a small space. To reclaim some of it, we’ve been talking about getting things that fit our space better. One of those things is an inexpensive little table we bought earlier this month from Ikea.

After:

Now, if we could just do that with everything.

Niiiice …
I just want to clarify to every one. Our walls are not really that mustardy yellow. They are yellow, but under normal lighting its a soft yellow.
Oh, but our floors are really that ugly.
that looks great!
Maybe when I get my degree (or maybe before), I can help you guys re-design your house (you do own, right?) and we can find you something more pleasant than those nasty vinyl tiles for your floors. ;)
The table looks great. Do you actually flip it back down when not in use? Knowing me, I’d just leave it covered with stuff all the time.
We don’t own, but we can do whatever we want with the place.
Now, here’s something scary: That tile? It’s not vinyl or any kind of laminate. It’s really ceramic tile, which means that someone had to put actual work into getting that ugly stuff on the floor.
Well, damn!
Too bad you don’t own, because it’s a LOT of work to get ceramic tile off the floor and prep it for a new floor (of any sort). Probably more trouble than it’s worth for a rental. If it wasn’t too obtrusive, I’d suggest finding some nice vinyl or laminate and slapping it down over the tile, but that probably wouldn’t work wherever it met up with a different kind of flooring material (like carpet) elsewhere in your home.
And of course your landlord lets you do whatever you want with the place. He knows you have good taste, and is probably hoping you’ll improve on *his/her* investment!
I love the bright yellow
I don’t think the floor tile is that bad. I’ve seen worse. And I am going to run right out and buy that table!
Ikea stuff can be rickety though. I’ve had some luck with Crate & Barrel.
