Thanks for sharing, guys. I'm a little surprised by how many of my friends have tattoos.

We're planning a Vegas trip for July 2008, so maybe we'll see what happens then.

Hey old friend. Just catching up. I got a tattoo in NYC on St. Pat's 2 years ago as an anniversary kind of thing. I'd wanted one since my first son was born, 14 years ago. It's on my back left shoulder -- 4 tribal flower-leaf-looking things that have center points. 3 centers are dotted blue and one is pink (3 boys & a girl). The twins' flowers are closer together than the others'. I love it and most of the time, forget it's there.

I have a Scorpion on my right shoulderblade because I am a scorpio. I loved getting it and when I can afford to I have four more designs I want on my body. Maybe more. I have been doing research on becoming a tattoo artist, and you should know you can't tattoo over scar tissue and with your golden delicious coloring Chris I would suggest a black and white design or at least a no color or one color. Color won't really show up well the darker your skin tone. Pick something that you liked as a kid and you still like. Something that means something to you. Something that can never disappoint, always makes you smile, and you will want to look at forever. That said, you put it on your back and generally you forget it is there until someone says something. Maybe a cute little elephant to remind you of Cindy. ;) They should never be something trendy or in fad or you will hate it later. However, there are some really good coverup artists out there. Just make it something that is definately Chris Maddera.

I don't have a tattoo, but I think the Pete's is dead sexy. And because it's an original abstract design (the sunburst mentioned above) with no pop culture references, it seems pretty timeless.

I told the Pete (who was encouraging me to get a tattoo at some point) if the album ever went gold, I'd get a tattoo. Well, you see how well THAT'S going. :p If I were to get one, I thought about getting mine in the same place as the Pete (where the back of the neck meets the shoulders), except I have a birthmark there. Then I thought, "maybe the small of the back; that's a sexy place;" but I just slipped on the front porch steps and now I have a nice, deep scrape right there, that's probably gonna leave a scar. I guess I collect scars, not tattoos.

I think I'd get something in a Celtic design, but I haven't seriously considered it enough to look for something specific. Although it would be funny to get a moon tattoo on my ass. Then I could moon people twice!

I've been thinking of getting a Ganesh on my back. But I haven't come across any images that I'm ready to commit to yet.

i have a sunburst tattoo on my back/neck that i drew up during a sermon when i was in college. as i like to stand in the shower for EVER it's starting to loose the "crispness" of the design so i'll have to get it retouched sometime. i hope to get another one sometime. something "tribal" maybe on one of my calves.

I'm kind of thinking that the tattoo -- if I get one -- will be kind of a no-particular-reason kind of thing, so nobody could tell that it has anything to do with losing weight. And I know I don't want a tattoo that says "Where's the Beef?" or "Time To Make The Donuts".

If I do get one, you should go to Vegas with me and get one, too :)

I would think that reaching a milestone like losing weight would be a good reason for a tattoo.

I don't have any tattoos. I have a scar on the upper portion of my left leg, a few inches outside the bikini line kind of on the front of my upper thigh, and I've thought about getting a tattoo to cover it. It's already a little spot of my body that I don't like, so if I get a tattoo and later don't like it, I figure, nothing lost, you know?

So many tattoos look stupid on people later when they age and the context of their lives change. I don't know. Milestone and memorial tattoos seem to be the smartest ones. The best tattoo I've seen is my friend Samantha's. She has a seahorse tattoo because she and her husband got married in front of the seahorse tank at the Aquarium. Of course, if they ever get divorced (they won't, but if) then that tattoo will suck. Just like, if you get a tattoo to commemorate weight loss and then you gain it back, that will be a reminder...it'll suck.
